How To Use A Skip For Next Years Christmas Waste

Christmas is a joyous time to celebrate the season with friends and family. Feasts, presents, decorations and more adorn homes and gardens. After the holiday, the clean-up begins. Somehow, the amount of decorations never seems to be overwhelming until the process of cleaning, packing and storage begins. There is also the problem of dealing with trash that is more than standard rubbish bins will hold.

Begin With A Plan
Sit down and list items that are stored and saved year after year. Special decorations, ornaments, knick-knacks and so on can be packed first and taken to their annual storage space. New “annual” items should be packed next. With those out of the way, other items can be addressed.

Donate Usable Items
Donate usable items to charities instead of binning them. Instead of being in landfills, the items can be used by those who need them. Charity resale shops accept a wide variety of items. Other charities may accept rejected items; these can also be given away by placing ads on the internet or in local newspapers. This also helps reduce the possibility of giving an unwanted gift to the original giver next year and reduces the need for storage.

Recycling
Items such as trees, paper, cardboard, aluminium and glass can be recycled. Some recycling and skip specialist companies have skips of various sizes for hire that will allow customers to place all recyclables into, these can come in the form of a handy sized mini skip or a more accommodating maxi skip. Once the skip is full, the company will send a lorry to retrieve it. If one customer does not have enough waste to fill the skip, several friends can join and share the cost. One skip can serve several households or neighbourhood.skip-truck

Non-recyclable Waste
It makes no sense to have trash bags piled with waste, waiting to go into the bin or hoping the trash collectors will take everything in one day. Bags of waste not only look bad, they attract vermin. Stray animals can open bags and scatter waste over gardens and roadways. Organic waste begins to rot, filling the air with foul odours.

Waste collection companies also provide skips for hire. Skips are available in different sizes to fit the amounts of waste. As with recycling skips, several friends or neighbours can share the cost for a large skip to handle all the holiday waste.

Handling holiday clean-up should never be a cumbersome chore. By planning, donating, separating, recycling and hiring skips, the process should take no more than a couple of days and with minimal costs.
